Overview
Macdio for iOS (iPhone, iPad, and CarPlay) is designed with your privacy in mind. We do not collect, store, or share any personal data. This privacy policy explains how the iOS version of the App handles your information.
Data collection
Macdio does not collect any personal information. All your data, including favorite stations, saved tracks, recordings, and preferences, stays on your device and syncs only through your personal iCloud account.
We do not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. We have no way to identify you or access your usage data.
Usage data (Privacy Nutrition Label)
As declared in the App Store Privacy Nutrition Label, Macdio collects Other Usage Data for the purpose of App Functionality. This refers to your listening history (PlaybackHistory), which stations you played, for how long, and on which device.
This data is:
- Not linked to your identity
- Not used for tracking
- Stored only in your private iCloud container
- Used solely to display your personal listening statistics across devices
Live Activities & Dynamic Island
On iPhone, Macdio displays now-playing information in the Dynamic Island and Lock Screen using Live Activities. This data (station name, song title, artwork) is processed entirely on-device and is never transmitted to any server.
CarPlay
When used with CarPlay, Macdio displays station information on your vehicle's infotainment screen. No additional data is collected or transmitted during CarPlay sessions. The same privacy protections apply as the main app.
Widgets & App Groups
Macdio uses an App Group shared container (group.com.macdio.app) to share now-playing data with iOS widgets. This data stays entirely on your device and is used only to display current playback information in widgets.
Third-party services
Macdio connects to the following external services solely to provide its core functionality:
- Radio Browser API to browse and search radio stations. No personal data is sent.
- LRCLIB to fetch synchronized song lyrics. No personal data is sent.
- iTunes Search API to fetch album artwork and track metadata. No personal data is sent.
- Logo.dev supplies the logos of radio stations that do not provide one themselves. Only the station's web domain is sent, no personal data.
iCloud sync
Your favorites, saved stations, listening history, and settings are stored in your private iCloud container. This data is managed by Apple's iCloud infrastructure and is not accessible to us.

Audio & recordings
Recordings are stored locally on your device. We do not upload, transmit, or access your recordings.
Children's privacy
Macdio does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under 13. Since we collect no personal data, the App is safe for users of all ages.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
