Frequently asked questions

How do I add my own radio station?
Open the app, tap the plus button, paste any stream URL (an .m3u, .pls, or direct stream), give it a name, and you are live in seconds.
How do I record a live stream?
While listening to a station, tap the record button in the player. Macdio saves the audio in high quality. Find all your recordings in the Recordings tab.
Does song identification use my microphone?
No. Macdio reads the stream directly to identify songs, so it never needs the microphone and never asks for microphone permission.
Do my favorites sync across devices?
Yes. Macdio uses your iCloud account to keep your favorite stations, saved tracks, and settings in sync across all your Apple devices, iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Watch, automatically.
What are the system requirements?
Macdio requires iOS or iPadOS 18, macOS Tahoe (macOS 26), tvOS 18, or watchOS 11 and later. It is built with 100% native SwiftUI to take full advantage of each platform.
Is my data shared with anyone?
Absolutely not. Macdio does not collect, store, or share any personal information. No analytics, no tracking, no ads. Everything stays on your device.
A station is not playing. What should I do?
Some radio stations go offline temporarily. Try refreshing the station list or check whether the stream URL is still active. If it persists, contact support with the station name.
Where are my recordings saved?
Recordings are saved locally on your device. You can access them through the Recordings tab and export them at any time.
